LedHeds, who are we ?
The LedHeds are a very unique bunch of people from all walks of life who share a common interest & passion.....Detecting for GOLD and all the other activities that help find some of that elusive colour.
The group started around 2 years ago on a public forum similar to this one. What started as a couple of people catching up on a weekend quickly turned into 6 people going away and it grew from there. Our first major outing was a very wet and miserable Maryborough where 15 diehards became the " LedHeds" This term was given by the little Head Lights that most were wearing around the camp at night and also the sight of 10 people all detecting in the night using these Head Lights to see.....A very funny moment as it looked like firefly's all buzzing around the scrub !
The interest was ignited and lots more get togethers have happened over that 2 years.....Maryborough, Castlemaine, Heathcote, Mataranka, Goldsborough, Snake Valley, Waanyarra, Avoca and Percydale have followed as well as numerous smaller get togethers, some road trips and interstate trips as well.
The group has a core element of around 20 who attend all get togethers and all up over 50 that have come and gone as well. There are no rules or regulations, people are free to come and go as they please, there are no leaders, ALL have equal input on what goes on. The bond between the participants is very strong and it's hard to believe that all started as complete strangers.....
So there you have it a quick history lesson on what has become a very enjoyable trip away with lots of great people who share a common interest....GOLD, prospecting, camping and 4 wheel driving....
